An Apprenticeship is a qualification for a Young Person (aged 16-24) that they gain whilst working for an employer. Apprenticeships are offered in most occupational/vocational areas on two levels called Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship.
You gain a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 and possibly a higher qualification.
Advanced Apprentices work towards NVQ Level 3 and Level 4 in some occupational areas. Both levels have frameworks that consist of an NVQ, Key Skills, Technical Certificate and/or an Enhancement. In order to gain the full Apprenticeship Certificate, the young person must complete all elements of the framework. Apprenticeships are designed to benefit young people as well as employers. If you are a Young Person, Parent or Employer you can find more information in the corresponding sections of this website.
