The Derbyshire Network and Training ProvidersThe Derbyshire NetworkThe Derbyshire Network has been established to promote, support and actively encourage the culture of lifelong learning and economic development throughout Derbyshire. Membership is drawn from a wide range of private, public and voluntary organisations supplying training and learning with some form of Government Sponsored Funding (GSF) ranging from Work Based Learning, JobCentre Plus programmes to Learndirect, Valu£able Skills etc The Derbyshire Network, which is fully supported by Derbyshire Learning and Skills Council, JobCentre Plus, Connexions Derbyshire, Derbyshire EBP, and both the Derby City LEA and the County LEA provides a forum in which member organisations may discuss and share good practice, information and matters of mutual interest allowing the formulation of common policy. This includes co-ordinating the collective views of member organisations, developing and/or participating in partnerships, maximising funding opportunities to support economic development, identifying and supporting learning opportunities for members' staff and managing change within the learning arena. The Derbyshire Network currently has a 3 year Strategic Plan agreed with Derbyshire Learning and Skills Council. The most significant part of the plan, some would argue, is the 14-19 Agenda. As you will no doubt agree enhancing working relationships between providers and schools will play an important (and potentially the most rewarding) aspect of delivering the 14-19 Agenda.
Training Providers in DerbyshireOver the years training providers have been actively involved with schools, providing quality programmes of teaching and learning to Key Stage 4 pupils. This has ranged from sector taster days, NVQ programmes, to stand alone qualifications, careers evenings and industry days. Providers have been actively involved in the Increased Flexibility Projects led by colleges and the LEA Pathfinder initiatives. In the Directory Search section you will find a range of vocational courses that lead to nationally recognised qualifications for Key Stage 4 pupils. These programmes are designed for pupils of all abilities who would benefit from a work-related learning environment. The directory also lists providers who will enrich careers evenings and industry days and providers who deliver stand-alone courses covering, for example, initial assessment, first aid or health and safety.
