Furniture Production

Wood Machinists work both in the furniture industry and the construction industry, making anything from high class living, bedroom and dining furniture, to kitchens, windows, doors and construction timbers.

Training takes place on the job with day release, and covers a wide range of machines for cutting, moulding, planeing and sanding, as well as health and safety and understanding of materials used within the industry. The training is very technical and therefore learners should have a reasonable level of mathematical skills and be mechanically minded.
