Although you do not need formal academic qualifications to be accepted onto a programme, you will need to have a keen interest in caring for others and be prepared to work hard. You will be placed with a local employer for most of your training but you will be expected to do 'off-the-job' training to gain underpinning knowledge. This will include Health and Safety, Key Skills and skills which are specific to your chosen area of caring.
