Direct Help and Advice (DHA) is an independent charity, established in 1995 to tackle homelessness, poverty, housing and unemployment difficulty. The charity has developed over the past 20 years to address the growing needs of our local community, including providing specialist Housing and Debt advice, Community Training, Traineeships and employability services for local people, and homelessness prevention projects.
They do this by providing local people with local services that are delivered in their community through outreach surgeries in partners’ community venues, and through DHA’s Advice and Training Centre and working in the communities across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Over the last 11 months, more than 2050 people have benefitted from their advice, debt, housing, training and employment support.
The Centre has developed into a cornerstone in the hub of the local community, offering accessible training, skills development, job clubs and volunteering opportunities for a wide range of hard-to-reach and vulnerable groups, including single parents, older people, and people with financial and housing difficulty.
DHA are wanting to explore partnership and sub-contracting opportunities for Adult Skills, Traineeships and Study Programmes. They are partnering with more employers to help local people gain valuable work experience and employment and have been delivering Traineeships successfully with TESCO and want to extend this offer across more areas and people. They also have links with other employers including 15 Boots stores around Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, Maybourn Group and Willmott Dixon but require a partner to subcontract with.
If you feel you can offer something in the way of a partnership, sub-contracting opportunity or even advice on another provider that may be able to help, please contact Karla Cook, Head of Training and Communities on, firstname.lastname@example.org
